What’s the difference between a solar water heating controller and an inverter?
Solar water heating controllers are only designed for resistive loads and can intelligently control water temperature. Solar inverters, on the other hand, cannot control water temperature and only convert DC to AC.
How does an MPPT solar water heating controller work?
This controller connects to both PV and AC. When sufficient solar power is available, it uses PV for direct heating. When solar power is weak, it automatically switches to AC heating, ensuring a continuous 24-hour hot water supply.
Why is MPPT better than PWM for controllers?
MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) controllers are more efficient. They can extract up to 30% more power from your solar panels compared to older PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) models, especially in cool or cloudy weather.
Can I mix inverter brands with my solar panels?
It's possible but not recommended. For optimal performance, compatibility, and warranty support, it's best to use components from a single ecosystem or brands that are certified to work together.
